PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

Week 2 (8-14 March)

Personal Consecration

Lord Jesus, thank You for demonstrating Your justice and love for us in this: While we were still sinners, You, LORD Jesus Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Because we, the children of God are made of flesh and blood – You, the Son also became flesh and blood to fully identify with us so that by Your death You destroy the power of the devil who had the power of death (Hebrews 2:14-15).

Lord Jesus, with a grateful and thankful heart, I thank You whenever I sin and confess and repent from my sins, I have an Advocate with the Father – You, Lord Jesus, the Righteous One. You are the atoning sacrifice for my sins, not only for my sins but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).

Here am I (Isaiah 6:8) today, O Great I AM to consecrate myself to be holy because You LORD is holy (Lev 11:44).

Lord Jesus, in view of the mercies of God, I choose this day to offer myself as a living sacrifice, set apart as holy to You so that You alone be glorified in my life (Romans 12:1).

Consecration of the Heart

Lord Jesus, Your Word states that a good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).

Lord Jesus, Your Word cautions me to guard my heart, for everything I do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23).

1. Examine the Heart

Lord Jesus, I confess my heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But You, the Lord, searches all hearts and examine secret motives (Jeremiah 17:9-10). Right now, at this moment, I ask You Lord, search me O God and examine my heart (Psalm 139:23) so that the enemy does not have any stronghold in my life. Let Your light penetrate my heart and expose every hidden motive (Proverbs 20:27) of:

– self-denial and deception of impure motives and selfish ambitions

– hypocrisy

– rebellion and insubordination

– pride

– bitter envy, hatred, anger

– lust

– unforgiveness

– other areas as Holy Spirit reveals

[Pause and invite Holy Spirit to gently minister to you on the consecration of the heart as you reflectively go through the list above again. When you are ready, move on to section 2. Repentant heart.]

2. Repentant Heart

Lord Jesus, I confess my heart has been … (e.g. filled with bitter envy) when … (e.g. ABC got the promotion).

Lord Jesus, with a grateful heart, I thank You for the promises of Your Word that, if I confess my sin, You are faithful and just and will forgive me of my sins (1 John 1:9) and that the Blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse my conscious from acts that leads to death, so that I may serve the Living God (Hebrews 9:14). Thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness when I confessed my sin(s). Help me bear fruit in keeping with my repentance (Matthew 3:8).

Lord Jesus, I consecrate my heart to You. Create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your Presence or take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and make me willing to obey You (Psalm 51:10-12).

3. Heart of Love and Abiding in His Love

Lord Jesus, disciple me to understand what is required of me to absolutely love You with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind (Matthew 22:37).

Lord Jesus, I pray that out of Your glorious riches, may You strengthen me with power through Your spirit in my inner being so that You, Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saint, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is Your love and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:16-19).

Lord Jesus, I pray that You disciple my heart to constantly and progressively grow in Your love which is patient, which is kind. To abide in Your heart of love that does not envy, does not boast, is not proud. A heart of love that is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs. To abide in Your heart of love that does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. To abide in Your heart of love that always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Your heart of love that never fails to be in me (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).

Lord Jesus, help me to be sincere in love. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor others above myself. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep my spiritual fervor, serving You Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute me; bless and not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Not be proud but be willing to associate with people of low position. Not be conceited. Not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on me, live at peace with everyone. Not take revenge but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary, if my enemy is hungry, I feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, I will heap burning coals on his head. I will not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:9-21).

4. Heart of Humility

Lord Jesus, I want to trust in You, with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding; in all my ways I acknowledge You and You will make my paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

5. Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

Lord Jesus, I pray for the Spirit of the fear of the Lord be upon my heart. Inspire my heart to fear You Lord so that I will never turn away from You (Jeremiah 32:40) for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).

Lord, You promised that the person who fears You, You will instruct them in the way they should choose. They will spend their days in prosperity and their descendants will inherit the land. You confide Your secrets with those who fear You and You will show them Your covenant (Psalm 25:12-14).

Lord, here am I, consecrating my heart to be set apart to be filled with the Spirit of the fear of the Lord and I that will always delight in the fear of You Lord (Isaiah 11:3).

In Jesus’ most holy and precious name I consecrate my heart to You. Amen.
