PRAYER FOR THE NATION – JULY 2024

RENEWING OUR COVENANT WITH GOD

This month, we want to focus on how we can prepare ourselves for the 40 days of Fast and Prayer from August 7th – September 16th. The theme is an “Unshakeable Kingdom”. Yes, it is time for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done in our land.  

So, as the Holy Priesthood of God in Malaysia, we want to prepare our hearts to come back to God with commitment and pray in such a way that God will hear our prayers and heal our land. We are His covenant people and God works through Covenant. May we use this month to renew our Covenant with Him. May we be able to come before His Throne of Grace to obtain mercy and find His grace to help and teach us how to pray in this time of need.

2 Chronicles 7:12-16 (NIV) 

12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. 13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

  1. Repent of broken Covenants with God in our own lives and in His church 

Covenants have been broken and we, as God’s Covenant people, must now come before God to ask for His mercy. His mercy is based on the Covenant we have through the blood of Jesus, whose blood alone is able to cleanse us of all our iniquity. (Hebrews 4: 15-16) 

Prayer to repent of broken Covenant with God

Almighty God, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth—You who keep Your covenant of love with Your servants who continue wholeheartedly in Your ways. In all these years, You have blessed us and have faithfully kept us from great disasters, diseases, tsunamis more than we realise. 

  • But we have run after worthless gods – the gods of comfort, ease and pleasure. 
  • We have not held on to Your Word to obey You in everything. We only come to You when we are in trouble and expect You to save us without realising that it is us who have defiled the land with our idolatry. (Jeremiah 2:27)
  • Forgive us for this dreadful sin of entitlement and we do not see ourselves as You see us. 
  • Open our eyes O merciful God, so that we can see how far we have fallen away from You and how much we have rebelled against Your ways and Your laws. (Deuteronomy 5:1-29)  

Help us, Lord, to return to your Covenant, to fear You and serve You only, and not follow the gods of the people around us. (Deuteronomy 6: 13-15) 

  • Return to His throne of Grace 

Hebrews 4:14-16

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Lord, we come before Your throne of Grace with confidence in the Blood of the Lamb and the intercession of our High Priest, Jesus, so that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. May You prepare me to come on a daily basis with renewed commitment to draw strength, wisdom and understanding from You even as we approach the 40 days of Fast and Prayer. 

  • Renew our Covenant with the Lord through the Blood of Christ 

Almighty God, we thank You for the Blood of Christ who through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God to cleanse us from our guilty conscience from acts that lead to death that we may now serve You. 

We now plead the blood of Jesus over our sins, and the sins of our land, and together with one voice we ask for Your mercy to deliver us and heal our land and send fresh wind of revival. 

Make us an Unshakeable People who will birth forth Your Unshakeable Kingdom. 

Let us now declare the Covenant we have through the Blood of Christ: 

BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST DECLARATIONS
 THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, I AM REDEEMED OUT OF THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS INTO THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT. Colossians 1:12-14 (Personalized)I give joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified me to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. For He has rescued me from the dominion of darkness and brought me into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom I have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

12. JESUS, YOU ARE MY SAVIOR AND YOU ARE LORD OVER MY LIFE. Thank you, Jesus, for the victory You have won for me at the Cross!
