PRAYER FOR NATION – January 2026

A NEW DAY, A NEW ANOINTING

Isaiah 28:5-6 (NIV)

In that day the LORD Almighty will be a glorious crown,

a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.

6 He will be a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment,

a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

The Vision for MUFW in 2026 is a NEW DAY, A NEW ANOINTING.

Why a new anointing?

  • to break out of our current mindset so that God can do a new thing in our midst; to pour new wine into new wineskin.
  • to turn back the battle at the gates.

We need a mindset shift so we will not enter 2026 with a business-as-usual mentality!! We need an anointing that will enable us to break out of our complacency and religious mindset.

As we see darkness sweep through every facet of human life targeting the children, the families and the church, we must now become more relentless in our pursuit of God. Only He can train our hands for war and our fingers for battle (Ps 144:1).

How can we adopt a relentless posture in 2026?

2 Chronicles 20:17

“’You will not have to fight this battle.

4 Instructions God gave to King Jehoshaphat

  1. Take up your positions
  2. Stand firm
  3. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged
  4. Go out to face them

PRAYER

  1. Taking up our Positions

Let us ask the Lord to give us a Courageous New Breakthrough Mindset.

Lord, we stand before You at the beginning of this new year 2026, and we ask for a new anointing that can break the mindset of religiosity that causes us to be complacent or helpless.

Almighty God, You are mighty in power, awesome in holiness, doing wonders. May you anoint us with power and authority so that we can become carriers of Your glory & Your majesty.

  • So, we now pray for a mindset shift.
  • We do not want to honor You with our lips yet our hearts are far from You, not treating You seriously as we ought to. We do not want our teachings to just be rules taught by men (Matthew 15:8-9).
  • Let our eyes be opened to the real state of our church services so that we can see what does not glorify You. We acknowledge that most of the time, our preaching and our worship lack that demonstration of the Spirit’s power.
  • O Lord God, may 2026 see a great change in our services so that our worship will be filled with the manifestation of Your power and love, so that everyone will stand in awe of You!
  • Come O Lord, and give us the hunger and thirst for the manifestation of Your glory.
  • Give us a relentless spirit to seek You daily, to hallow Your name and to stand in awe of You.
  • May our corporate prayer altars be filled with Your presence as we fix our eyes on the majesty and glory of God and not on what is happening around us.
  • Turn our eyes towards You, O Lord, and do not let us be distracted or overwhelmed by the situations surrounding us.

2.       Standing Firm in our Position in the Lord

Lord, we know that prayer is more than a petition. It is about taking up our spiritual position that You have given us through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, we will not give up this position and we declare that

  • Through Christ, You have raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6).
  • Through Christ, You have qualified us to share in the inheritance of Your holy people, and You have rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son that You love (Colossians 1:12-13).
  • We stand firmly in this position because through Christ, we have been freed from our sins by His blood, and we have been made kings and priests to serve our God and Father (Rev 1:5-6).
  • Therefore, we will always maintain this position even as we lift up hands to You in prayer.

3.       Asking for Courage and Resilience to Face the enemy

Therefore, as we take up our positions in prayer, we ask that You will enable us to stand together relentlessly to face the enemy.

  • Lord, may You help us in 2026 to always be strong and courageous, putting on the full armor of God so that we will be able to stand firm against all the strategies of the devil.
  • Train us to stand our ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, we put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that we are fully prepared. In addition to all of these, we hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. And we put on salvation as our helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:14-19).
  • We will not allow the spirit of fear and intimidation to dominate our hearts and minds, but we adopt the Spirit that gives us power, love and self-discipline (2 Tim 1:7).
  • We will not allow fear or hopelessness to dominate our minds, but rather say to ourselves, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” (Isaiah 35:4)

Lord, we praise the Lord, who is our Rock.

May You train our hands for war and give our fingers skill for battle.

2 You are our loving ally and our fortress,

You are our tower of safety, our rescuer.

You are our shield, and we take refuge in You.

In Jesus’ Name, You will cause the nations to be subdued. (Psalm 144:1-2)

In Jesus’ Mighty Name we pray, amen.
