PRAYER FOR NATION – POWER FOR BREAKTHROUGH ANOINTING

To come up higher, we need the Holy Spirit’s power for breakthrough anointing.

Isaiah 11:1-3

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD – 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. (NIV)

The priests, kings or prophets in the Old Testament were anointed with oil before they were empowered to fulfil God’s call upon their lives to lead their nation to possess their inheritance.
After Jesus’ baptism and testing in the wilderness, He began His ministry in the power and fullness of the Holy Spirit.
The apostles were baptised by the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 2, and received a powerful breakthrough anointing which resulted in an amazing fulfilment of their divine purpose.
The source of this powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit was prophesied in Isaiah 11:1-3 which is the seven aspects of the Holy Spirit at work in the Messiah’s life and ministry. The Holy Spirit would be similarly active when He comes upon, rests upon and manifests Himself through believers in general.
We pray that God anoints us with the seven-fold Spirit of the LORD so that we will become vessels of breakthroughs, mightily used by God to manifest the power and presence of God’s Kingdom on earth.

SPIRIT OF THE LORD

Ephesians 5:18b “be filled with the Spirit.” (NIV)

Lord Jesus, You are Christ, the Anointed One. We declare that we want to live by the Spirit that we no longer gratify the desires of the flesh or the sinful nature.
We submit to God, resist every work of the enemy and he will flee from us that we can overcome and prevail in every temptation and obstacle.
We thirst and hunger for Your Holy Spirit and for You to fill us with Your righteousness.
We declare that we are children of God, led by the Spirit and no longer subject to fear, but are heirs of God sharing in Jesus’ glory.
We ask that You fill us daily with the fullness of the Holy Spirit of the LORD that we will manifest the presence and power of God to others.

SPIRIT OF WISDOM

James 1:5-8 “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.” (NIV)

Lord Jesus, grant us the fear of God that we may have wisdom to live in obedience to Your Word and ways.
Grant us divine wisdom to make correct judgments with deep insights into the repercussions of decisions made.
Give generously to us the Spirit of wisdom to apply Your truths and principles in all situations, that we may do Your will and please You.
Grant us faith to believe whatever we pray for without doubting, but have complete trust in Your wisdom in all circumstances that Your kingdom purposes will prosper.

SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING

Colossians 1:9 “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” (NIV)

Father God, grant us spiritual insights and understanding of Your laws that we will keep and obey them with all our hearts.
Help our leaders to be shepherds after Your heart that they will lead us with knowledge and understanding.
Grant us listening hearts and ears to heed God and leaders that we will live a good life filled with the deeds of humility.
Anoint us with the Spirit of understanding that we will trust You and not depend on our own understanding so that we will know and follow the will of God.

SPIRIT OF COUNSEL

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” (NIV)

Holy Spirit, grant us Your counsel to devise the best plans in accordance to Your will, that our churches and nation are revived and transformed.
Help us to discern Your counsel for future directions and accept Your instructions promptly and obediently.
We declare that sound judgment and counsel are Yours, Lord. Fill us with this Spirit that we can counsel others to follow Your paths of righteousness.
Let us be careful to have a multitude of counsel, for with many advisers there is safety and success.

SPIRIT OF POWER

Ephesians 1:18-21 “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” (NIV)

Holy Spirit, we receive Your incomparable great power to operate in miracles, signs and wonders, especially in harvesting of souls.
We declare that You have given us the weapons, authority and divine power to demolish strongholds, arguments and every pretension that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
We declare that You have not given us a spirit of timidity, but a Spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline to stir the gifts of the Spirit to edify and bless the body of Christ and the community.
We declare that Your divine power has given us everything we need for living a godly life through knowing You, so that we may participate in Your divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE

Colossians 1:9-12 “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.” (NIV)

Father, we pray we will grow more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that we may be able to discern what is best, remain pure and blameless and be filled with the fruit of righteousness.
Holy Spirit, anoint us with the Spirit of knowledge concerning the will of God through all spiritual wisdom and understanding in good and bad times.
We declare that we will live a life that will always honour and please You, Lord, producing every kind of good fruit.
We declare we will be willing to pay the price to serve God with great endurance, patience and joy.

SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 “And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?” (NIV)

LORD, let us revere You by delighting in doing Your will as the Lord Jesus did, Who considers doing Your will as His food.
We surrender every aspect of our lives to You that we may walk in all Your ways by serving and loving You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Fill us with the fear of the LORD that we will shun evil, ungodly ways and worldly temptations, but humbly submit ourselves to corrections and rebukes.
We declare blessings upon those who fear the LORD, that they will enjoy the fruit of their labour, be full of joy, prosper in everything they do, be fruitful and lack nothing.
