Pahang’s population is 1,623,200 consisting of the Malays (70.60%), the Orang Asli (5.15%), the Chinese (14.88%), the Indians (4.08%), others (0.48%) and non-Malaysians (4.79%).

 

The Orang Asli:

The main groups are the Negrito, the Senoi and the Proto Malay

  • The Bateq tribe of Negrito group can be found in the northern part of Pahang.
  • Two Senoi tribes, Semaq Beri and Semai are in northern Pahang. Two other Senoi tribes, Chewong and Jah Hut communities can be found in central Pahang.
  • Proto Malay tribes of Jakun, Temoq, Semelai and Temuan dominated the southern part of the state.

 

Economy

Kuantan Port is the major maritime gateway to the east coast region of Peninsular Malaysia.

The economy of the state comes from the following:

  1. Services (49.0%) – Wholesale and Retail Trade, Food and Beverage, and Accommodation
  2. Agriculture (23.4%)
  3. Manufacturing (22.1%)
  • Pahang’s automotive industry is centered in Pekan.
  • Other manufacturing industrial parks including Gebeng Integrated Petrochemical Complex (GIPC), Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP), Pahang Technology Park (PTP), Kuantan Integrated Bio Park (KIBP), and Gambang Halal Park (GHP).

Christianity 1.2% Protestants and Catholics, many small churches, workers needed for large harvest

with the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

Ephesians 3:16-19

16 I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Father God, I pray that as every believer is filled with the power of Your Holy Spirit,

we will be bold to be Your witnesses wherever You have placed us – sharing what You have done for us to our friends and neighbours. Lord, free us from the fear of man. Help us to make every effort to reach out to disciple someone, especially the next generation (our children and grandchildren).

 

  1. Unity and oneness in the Body of Christ

Psalm 133, John 17

Father, we need Your Holy Spirit to make this unity and oneness in the Body of Christ to become a reality. Forgive us for our divisiveness and individualism. Revive us Lord! As You, O Lord Jesus, have prayed in John chapter 17 – make us one so that the world may know You have come as the Saviour of the world.

 

  1. God to raise up watchmen and intercessors for Pahang

Isaiah 21:6

Lord God, we ask of You to raise up watchmen and intercessors for the state of Pahang. Fill all believers, young and old, with Your Spirit of intercession that we, the Church, will be a house of prayer for all nations.

 

  1. More churches to be planted in every district of Pahang

Matthew 9:37-38

Lord Jesus, You said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field,” so we ask of You to send forth the workers to every district in Pahang. Lord, raise up the church planters we pray!

 

  1. Salvation of the lost

Isaiah 59:1, John 16:8, Acts 16:31

Lord, we are grateful to You for redeeming us from the kingdom of darkness. We are glad that salvation belongs to You and that Your arm is never too short to save. O Lord, we bring before You the harvest – those living in the urban, in the rural and in the jungles. Holy Spirit, soften the hearts for the planting of the seed of the Gospel, convict the people of sin, righteousness and judgment. You promise Lord, that when one is saved, the whole family will be saved!! Thank You, Lord, that You will fulfill Your word because You said in Psalm 89:34 that You will not alter what You have uttered. I ask Lord, save _____________ (name the person who needs redemption).

 

PRAYING FOR PAHANG

  • Father, we thank You for this land that has so many natural resources. Bless this land of Pahang, Lord – that she will become an “Abode of Tranquility” [Pahang Darul Makmur] where her people will live in harmony, peace and goodwill.
  • Lord, You know all things. We ask of You to be merciful and gracious to us. Forgive us of sins of corruption, idolatry and oppression. Revive all sectors of the economy of this state. Provide us with a strong economy to provide job opportunities for young people to remain in Pahang.
  • Establish, O Lord, a God-fearing and caring government who places the interests of the rakyat before her own. Raise up the Cyruses and Dariuses! Pour forth Your Spirit on this land. Let Your justice roll and Your righteousness be felt in the society, for the result of righteousness is peace and rest!

 

Isaiah 32:15-18

15 till the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
and the desert becomes a fertile field,
and the fertile field seems like a forest.
16 The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert,
his righteousness live in the fertile field.
17 The fruit of that righteousness will be peace;
its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places,
in secure homes,
in undisturbed places of rest.”

 

This is our cry, Lord! Only You can bring about this change! Only You, Lord!

DECLARING ISAIAH 35:1-10 (AMPC) OVER PAHANG:

  • I declare that the wilderness and the dry land of Pahang shall be glad in the day of God’s visitation! They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty andsplendour andexcellency of our God (verses 1-2).

 

  • I believe that our God will come with vengeance; with the recompense of God He will come and save us (verse 4b).

 

  • I believe that as the Body of Christ becomes One, strengthening the weak hands and making firm the feeble andtottering knees, God’s signs and wonders will follow us:
  • The Church will walk in the supernatural (blind eyes opened, the deaf hear, the lame walk, the dumb sing, the sick healed… verses 5-6).
  • The Church will impact society and bring about change (verses 6b-7).

 

  • I declare that a highway shall be there in Pahang, and a way; and it shall be called the Holy Way. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for the redeemed (verse 8). Many will be saved! Praise God!!

 

  • I call forth Restoration! I call forth Life! I call forth the New that God is bringing to pass in this season!
